Reader’s Digest
Client
One of the biggest subsidiaries of the global mulit-brand media and marketing company Reader's Digest is based in Germany. The foundation for the company with its headquarters in Stuttgart was laid in 1948, when the first edition of the international Reader's Digest magazine was published in German with the title Das Beste.
Since then, Reader's Digest Germany has steadily and successfully enhanced its program. Today, the company develops and sells magazines, books, audio books, music, and videos.
In addition to classical publishing products, Reader's Digest offers health care products, financial services, hiking accessories and wine in the German-speaking area.

Goal
The monthly magazine Reader’s Digest Deutschland is very popular. Less well-known, however, is the fact that the publisher also offers non-fiction books, select editions and guidebooks as well as CDs and DVDs. The aim of the PR activities is to draw the media's attention to the diverse product range of Reader's Digest.

Strategy

Theme setting: development of interesting stories relating to the product. The media are regularly made aware of new publications.

Implementation
Issuing of press releases presenting new
publications. Positioning of book, CD and
DVD/audiobook reviews in the print media
and on TV. Journalists receive free review
copies. Copies are also made available as
awards for prize draws in newspaper
reader campaigns.

Result
Regular publicity in daily papers, mainstream
press, radio and TV.
